Stephanie (and Stacey),

I'm like you - this is very appropriate timing. Just this week, I said "no" to a volunteer opportunity which I normally might have said "yes" to. I had tentatively talked with someone about handling a library program for them but indicated that I needed direction and a few questions answered before I could commit. The time grew closer and closer and after two emails I still didn't have what I needed to help. My window of planning time was closing. I just had to say "no". It saved me a great deal of stress, not to mention the impossible of doing a credible job under the circumstances. Luckily for them, someone in their organization had a "plan B".

I've learned in life that if I say "yes" to everything, I end up stretching myself too thin and then I'm not helpful to anyone.
